Yum!

It's beginning to smell like Christmas around here. My three little bakers around here tried a new twist on cut out cookies.
This super easy recipe for Chai Spice Girls from this months Better Homes and Gardens is my new favorite. The hint of pumpkin pie spice, molasses and surprise ingredient, chai tea makes them to die for!
The powdered sugar icing is super easy too. I love the simplicity of the white icing.
What are your favorite holiday cookies to make?

I don't think these cookies will last for you know who!

Are you ready?

Thanksgiving is in two days-yikes!

I have so much to do:

1. clean my house
2. bake three pies
3. make bread
4. check tablecloth to see if it's devoid of last years stains
5. buy some wine
6. make place settings
7. thaw turkey's
8. prepare all the sides

I know it will all happen and be just right. Come Thursday night I'll be one happy & stuffed girl!

Enjoy your day of THANKS!

Eggs

Have I mentioned that we have chickens?

A year ago my adoring husband mentioned something about chickens. I said, "yup uhuh, hmmm." The thing is he really meant it. Here we are a year later with eleven chickens. I've grown to enjoy my feathery friends. Even more I love what they produce. Looks like it's eggs tonight!

Chalkboards

My most recent find this summer on the side of the road

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE chalkboards! Maybe it reminds me of playing school when I was little. I find myself collecting chalkboards of all sizes. It doesn't stop there either.....I'm obsessed with chalkboard paint! I use it on inexpensive clay pots, my pantry cupboards, in the kids playroom and even on pumpkins for Halloween. I think for turkey day I'll paint little gourd pumpkins as name place settings.

Painted clay pot- so easy to change out for summer herbs

Our painted pantry cupboards-great for making grocery lists.

What kinds of things have you used chalkboard paint on?

Testing the Water!

All three of my girls are now in school and I'm still trying to get use to the idea that I'm not responsible for anyone other than myself from 8:15am-3:15pm! Needless to say I'm testing the water in my new role as a mother of three growing girls. With those few extra minutes in my day I thought this would be the perfect time to start my blog. Follow me in my journey to showcase unique finds for my home, all things different, everyday living and so much more!
I love this scarf-it's how I feel!
