Re-do

Are you like me, that this time of year makes you want to re-do a room or two? Spring is in the air.... (not if you look out my window to see snow or the fact it's 29 degree's out)....in my mind I can see daffodils, tulips, sunshine...you get the idea. My dining room is on the hit list for a low cost change!

The best advice I got from a friend years ago, was to purchase some key quality items then mix and match with less inexpensive accessories. Rarely do I pay full price for something....as you know I love to find things at tag sales, flea markets, local junk stores and one of my favorites TJ Maxx!

OK.... my red slip covered parson chair in the dining room are the best. I had to have them years ago and oops, I did pay full price.  I think the red is great, but I've had the longing to neutralize the space. I decided to peel back the trusty red slip cover and to my amazement and surprise there's the color I want. Hello neutral beige! This only tells you that I didn't remember what they looked like prior to purchasing them and clearly I never had taken them off-nope, not even once to wash! I was thrilled with what I saw...off to TJ Maxx for some accessories. I found the runner and center pineapple thingy there...loved the boldness yet simplicity of the runner, the welcoming and brightness of the pineapple.
I'm on the hunt for a huge beat up farm table...just to add the right character and simplicity

Table runner from TJ Maxx-$12.

Pineapple centerpiece TJ Maxx$14.

Drum Pendant light from Overstock-another great site to get deals-$120.

There you have it...simple and low cost=HAPPY! What changes have you made for Spring?

Etsy

FYI.....if you're interested in seeing what else I do in my spare time between family and work commitments check out my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/people/AgelessStyle?ref=si_pr

I've always been drawn to things that are old, have a specific purpose or one that I create. Now that Spring is here I'm more inspired to seek out vintage ware....what will I find and where will I find it? That's the best part of all.

Spring

Welcome spring!
It started out like this....

and today is another story.....

I guess that's March in New York!

what you like

I just got the second Flea Market Style magazine yesterday and couldn't wait to peruse the pages taking in every little detail.

I love this edition and lingered on every page. With each turn of the page I was more inspired. It confirms my feelings of what I love about vintage finds. The history, the feel, the thrill of finding something you love is addicting. So as I perused those FMS pages so closely this is what I found.....TopTen Vinatge Finds......Maps!!!

I scored a huge old school map a few months ago. I've been wanting one to put in my girls play "school room".....I've hunted everywhere. This freebie came by way of my parents. (Hint....it pays to share what you're looking for with family and friends!) I love the colors and the sheer size.

Here is my map....

I just love it!
